Under the motto "Higher, further, wilder - On the road in the Schladming-Dachstein Region", the mountain world programme will be broadcast on Servus TV on 22 April 2024 at 20:15.

The Schladming-Dachstein region is widely known as a winter sports mecca, but it also has a lot to offer in summer. "Bergwelten" explores the diverse opportunities that nature offers here with a wide variety of sportspeople from the region. For many, the mountains here are both a place of strength and a training ground.

Along the Schladminger Tauern Trail, Austrian national road bike champion Carina Schrempf and European junior biathlon champion Tamara Steiner are on a training run through the beautiful and water-rich mountain landscape. When you see the Klafferkesseln or the Giglachseen lakes, it becomes clear why the - long and strenuous - journey is already the goal here. European mountain bike downhill champion and vice world champion Andreas Kolb also uses his local mountains as a training ground for his sport: the Planai is his territory in summer, where he gets the training he needs for his international successes.

The most striking peaks in this region are certainly the Dachstein and the Grimming. But the highest mountain that stands entirely on Styrian soil is the Hochwildstelle. Peter and Michael Perhab are not only father and son, they also share a love of climbing. After climbing the Hochwildstelle together via the beautiful south ridge, the view from the summit extends across the entire Enns Valley from the Grimming to the Hohe Dachstein. This is where the idea of attempting the Dachstein Südwand Direttissima Rotpunkt matures in Michael. An endeavour that numerous alpinists have attempted and failed. To prepare himself for the challenge, he also meets Leo Schlömmer, the first person to climb the route at the time. This meeting is also one of generations and climbing styles that are nevertheless united by one thing: their fascination for this enormous wall and the adventure that comes with it.
