32nd Spring Festival with Horses
08.06. - 09.06.2019
During the 31st Spring Festival with Horses, from 9th to 10th June, 2018, Ramsau am Dachstein crowned its new Dachstein Queen, Patricia Schrempf, 22.
Also crowned were her two princesses: Melanie Rettenwender, who is also from Ramsau, and Vanessa Petersmann from Haus im Ennstal. These young women took up the mantel to represent Ramsau and Schladming Dachstein at official events near and far.
More than 10,000 people visited the colourful 31st Spring Festival with Horses and enjoyed 34 events in front of the splendid Dachstein backdrop. A celebration of tradition, the event was filled with music and more than 120 gorgeously adorned horses of different breeds.
Traditional Schnalzer, Schuplattl groups, traditional folk-dance groups, and four marching bands enchanted the visitors. The little guests loved the many animals they could pet.
On Saturday, the musical hike took place, as well as a visit to the flower arrangements. In the evening, the Ramsau am Dachstein traditional marching band gave a concert, celebrating with dancing and schuhplattl’n the 70th anniversary of Ramsau’s traditional dance group. The highpoint of the evening was the selection of the new Dachstein-Queen and her princesses.
The event highlight, however, was Sunday’s 500-strong flower-and-horse parade. Flower-bedecked carriages travelled through the village, pulled by Haflingers, Friesians, Noriker, ponies, and even some donkeys. Amongst the many visitors and guests of honor was Franz Handler, mayor of Ramsau’s partner town Bad Blumau.
