Cross-country skiing

With ease on the trails in Ramsau am Dachstein and the valleys of the Schladming-Dachstein region.

Cross-country-skiing

Hitting the trail to winter happiness.

Even though Schladming-Dachstein lies in the heart of Austria, Nordic sports also have a rich tradition here. With 220 km of perfectly maintained ski trails, this cross-country Eldorado on the sunny Ramsau am Dachstein plateau has long attracted the international elite of Nordic skiing in addition to pure holidaymakers. Amid the incomparable mountain scenery that flanks Dachstein Glacier, the world’s longest glacier ski trail promises an extraordinary experience at 2700 m above sea level. Whenever you are ready to recharge your batteries, there are plenty of eateries and watering holes along the way. If you would like to learn how to cross-country ski, we suggest turning to one of our 3 cross-country schools. But if you are content simply watching, we might suggest the FIS World Cup in the Nordic Combined which will be held here in December.

Good news for you, the cross-country skiing in Ramsau am Dachstein season started on November 10, 2023.

Biathlon for guests

The new trend

Biathlon is fascinating. Not just to watch on TV, when the world's best athletes clock laps and try to turn the black targets white, standing as well as prone - but also to try it yourself. In Ramsau am Dachstein, there are several ways to enjoy a taste of the enthralling world of biathlon. The offers include laser, air and small-caliber rifles, which you can use to test your accuracy inside the biathlon stadium. A team of trainers teaches correct breathing and shooting techniques, helping you find the optimal pulse and rhythm for shooting between those strength-sapping cross-country stages. Children can participate from a height of 140 cm.

TIP: Group or company event

Snowfarming

Ramsau am Dachstein has been snowfarming since winter 2013. At the end of every winter, we collect and cover large piles of snow with a layer of woodchips, ready to re-use the next winter. To prevent sun and rain melting the snow, an additional white protective sheet is placed on top. This way, we can keep up to 80% of the snow.

Test Winner 2023

The cross-country skiing center Ramsau am Dachstein was awarded by the world's largest test portal of ski resorts Skiresort.de as test winner 2023 in the category "cross-country skiing and trails". In addition to the total length of the trails and the different levels of difficulty of the trails, the condition and preparation of the trails as well as the given snow reliability and additional service offers were the main evaluation criteria.
