Winter Walking – Nothing but Nature!
Ramsau am Dachstein, located close to Schladming, offers besides its excellent cross country skiing infrastructure, also a great network of winter walking trails counting 70 km. The sunny Ramsau plateau has a lovely scenery, making winter walking a wonderful experience. There are both, groomed winter walking trails as well as walking paths. The trails are groomed right at the beginning of a winter season to be available to ramblers as well as to horse drawn sleighs. Like that roads can mainly be avoided.
The entire network of winter walking trails counts 70 km:
- 40 km of walking trails are set up as rounds on the Ramsau plateau, they are 4 m wide.
- Further 30 km of winter walking paths complete the offer, which leads the hiker up to the Alpine pasture's region on a level of 1.700 m.
The wide walking trails are mainly flat and in open, sunny countryside. The only oncoming traffic you might encounter here are horse-draws sleighs.
The narrow winter walking paths are mostly to be found at the edges of the woods, they are ideal in the case of snowfall, are sheltered in case of wind and have partly also steep passages.
Many country inns with cosy sitting rooms, authentic lodges and sunny terraces invite you to stop for a bite. The Ramsau public buses are also an option to get to places. There are descriptions of all rounds, that are shown on the winter walking map. Bus stops are marked on the map as well. Also, you can find all winter walking possibilities in the interactive map.
