Ramsau am Dachstein
Information
Ramsau am Dachstein – your source of strength
Ramsau am Dachstein (886 – 2,996 m) lies at the foot of Styria's highest mountain, the Dachstein, in the district of Liezen (Expositur of Gröbming). The high plateau is south-facing at around 1,000 to 1,300 metres above sea level. The three levels of holiday resort (high plateau, mountain pastures, or Alm, and the Dachstein Glacier) extend over 18 kilometres in length and four kilometres in width and take the form of a shelf 400 metres above the Ennstal valley.
The Alm, or mountain pastures, which lie between 1,600 and 1,900 metres above sea level, offer lovely, easy circular walks or the finest fun on old, compacted snow (firn) for the whole family. Those who holiday in the mountain pastures can enjoy a wonderful, panoramic view of the Schladming Tauern mountains and the Ennstal valley.
The year-round, high Alpine ski area on the Dachstein Glacier (2,700 m) is an open invitation to hike across the glacier, try cross-country skiing, snowboarding and regular skiing and is prized by the Nordic skiing world's élite as a summer training camp. The southern slopes of the Dachstein range form the starting point for longer, high Alpine hikes and climbs.
The holiday resort of Ramsau am Dachstein is popular because of its scenic beauty and the unique nature of its 3-tiered landscape, the well-integrated hotel industry, with friendly family establishments, a diverse range of leisure facilities winter and summer alike, and a rich programme of cultural and other events.
Mundane cares will soon be soothed away by warm, traditional hospitality in a unique mountain setting, whilst your body and mind will be invigorated by the diverse range of outdoor sports, so that the healthy mountain resort of Ramsau am Dachstein becomes the "source of your strength"!
