Exposed and over the horizon at level 3 The Dachstein is the centrepiece of the scenic backdrop of the Ramsau high plateau. The latest attraction on the Dachstein is
the Dachstein Sky Walk viewing platform. 

The Dachstein Sky Walk is formally enthroned at 2,700 m above sea-level, high up on the 250 m vertical rock face of the Hunerkogel.
A 360 degree panorama allows the visitor a view of Slovenia in the south to the Czech Republic in the north. This "balcony of the Alps" is distinctly higher than the platforms of the Niagara Falls or the Iguazu waterfalls in Brasil. 

The viewing platform offers space for 150 guests and can be comfortably reached on the Dachstein cable car from Ramsau. Parts of the Dachstein Sky Walk platform floor have been constructed of glass, guaranteeing an amazing experience. Anyone can have a taste the peaks of the Alps without ropes, crampons or risk. 








18 km of well-groomed cross country trails. Whilst the cows are grazing in the valley, the cross  country world champions are already training on the Dachstein. Up to 700 athletes from 30 countries ski on the glacier trails daily.

The Dachstein Super Park for snowboarders and alpine skiers set new standards in the construction of fun parks: rails, kickers, corners  - offer everything to make the hearts of snowboarders and free skiers beat faster. The events (e.g. the "Pleasure Jam" in the autumn) are THE  meeting point for the stars of the boarding scene! The famous Falk Skiatlas has rated the Dachstein Tauern Region with its Dachstein Superpark in the category "Best for snowboarders" internationally under the top 3!

"Austria's National Ski Tour": the Dachstein crossing also commences on the Dachstein. A further 15 tours await nearby.

Anyone on the Dachstein should not miss out the experience of the "Freeride Edelgriess". Sure-footedness and advanced ability are required to weave your way over the south mountain back to Ramsau. In insider circles it rates as the best freeride descent in the Alps.







The Dachstein Glacier offers alpine skiers ideal pistes for beginners and pleasure-skiers, as well as chance to warm up for the winter season.

Those wanting to take things more gently can stop in the Dachstein Panorama Restaurant at 2,700m and let themselves be spoiled.

Glacier hike to the Dachsteinwarte (2,741 m) This hike full of magnificent views leads over a prepared glacier path to the highest refuge in the Dachstein range (2,748 m). Fabulous view of the Dachstein south wall. Route: From the mountain station down to the Schladminger Glacier, following the signposts in a north-westerly direction. Past the Dirndl wind funnel (unique natural wonder). From there, follow the glacier path up to the Dachsteinwarte. Walking time: approx. 1 hour.
